Eight men battle for a pickleball crown every Sunday. This season, the real winners are the kids at the McSheffery Community Centre. Give what you like — 100% goes to them.
The eight contenders (and one town crier). One will be King. All of them are playing for the kids.
Every Sunday morning from September to December, eight friends wage a 90-minute pickleball war at Greenbelt. Every partnership, every rotation, every point tracked. On December 6, one man is crowned King of the Court and eats free while the other seven pay.
It started as bragging rights. Then we decided the crown should count for something bigger. So the eight of us seeded the first $500 ourselves — and now we're asking the people who know us to help push it to $5,000.
Every dollar we raise buys Royal Tickets — enrolling kids from the McSheffery Community Centre in sports and recreation programs around St. John's that would otherwise be out of reach.
McSheffery supports kids growing up in disadvantaged homes. Some of us already run pickleball there with them every week — we have seen what one hour on a court can do. Now imagine a whole season.
Give any amount — every dollar stacks toward the next kid’s ticket. Our $5,000 goal puts 20+ kids in the game.
No bets. No sides. No picking favourites. Give what feels right — every dollar buys a kid’s Royal Ticket, and every donor is a friend of the realm.
Opens our secure donation page — you’ll see the live total raised right above where you give.
Payments are processed by Zeffy, a free platform for charities — so 100% of your gift reaches McSheffery. Heads up: Zeffy asks for an optional tip at checkout to keep their platform free. You can set it to $0.
Donate any amount and you're automatically entered. One winner joins the eight players at the season-ending supper, seated at the King's right hand — supper on us — and stands with us for the cheque presentation to McSheffery.
